The Section below contains a Portfolio of  past projects.

Kilternan Sports Hotel

The Comer Group have bought the  presently vacant Sports Hotel and its surrounding lands containing an artificial Ski Slope and golf course. An application was lodged to develop the golf course area as an Equine Centre of Excellence to include a training gallops and stable block.

Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council decided to refuse permission  and Manahan Planners were engaged to appeal the Decision. We pointed out that the development was allowable under the zoning and was consistent with the policy of the Council to promote the County as a location for the Equine industry.

An Bord Pleanala granted permission and pointed out that the development was consistent with the policy of the County Council  to promote the County as an area to locate equine activity in and was otherwise consistent with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area.

This is another welcome decision from the Board.

Funeral Home at former Tuning Fork Pub

An Bord Pleanala has granted permission to Fanagans Funeral Directors to demolish the vacant Tuning Fork pub in Ballyboden Road, Rathfarnham, Dublin 14.

Following Objections from locals, South Dublin County Council refused permission for 6 reasons. Manahan Planners engaged the servises of relevant specialisms to show that each of the grounds of refusal were not valid or in most cases not  relevant.

The Inspector agreed that four of the reasons were not relevant and even if they were the Councils views were not based on any evidence. The Inspector did however have concerns in regard to parking and traffic.

An Bord Pleanala decided to grant permission however and required that parking be increased on site.  The new contemporary building will be an addition to  the area.
